To assess cardiovascular fitness,
the HealthWizard Fitness Profile program requires an exercise
device such as a stationary bike.
Monark's test bikes are designed
specifically for fitness assessments
and have set the global standard
for quality, simplicity and reliability. The most popular bike, the Monark 828E, is the only testing
bike approved for cardiovascular assessment by the U.S. Air
Force and the U.S. Federal Fire Authorities.
The Monark 828E features a simple mechanical design in which
the braking force of a strap around the bike flywheel creates
the workload. To change the workload, the user turns a screw
knob that adjusts the strap tension. A weighted pendulum on
the side of the bike indicates the current workload in Newtons
or kiloponds.
MicroFit designed its RoboBike attachment
and FAS-2 heart rate receiver devices to
interface with the Monark 828E bike.
Over 80% of MicroFit FAS-2 owners use
the Monark 828E bike or its predecessor,
the Monark 818E bike.
Note: The Monark bike is not a component of the MicroFit
FAS-2 System but may be purchased as an optional item.
